Resilient Coasts examines the cultural importance, structural properties, and climate adaptation possibilities of both forests and architecture in three regions around the globe—Rikuzentakata in Tohoku, Japan; Castel Volturno in Campania, Italy; and Neskowin, Oregon in the United States of America. Each region possesses distinct relationships to sea level rise and tsunamis, but also to trees: as climate protectors, as a renewable source of building material, and as living entities that hold cultural capital.
